The Challenge

Growing Fast, Without a Blueprint

Jerry was still the firm's main advisor, personally handling client relationships and key decisions, when peers urged him to work with ClientWise. He wasn't in crisis — he just sensed he was growing faster than he knew how to manage, and that spending time away from clients on the business itself didn't make immediate sense to him.

"The challenge in my business was I was still the main advisor and the thought of spending more time on the business when I couldn't see the exact need."— Jerry David
The Turning Point

From Freeing Up Time to Building an Enterprise

About halfway through his 14 years, Jerry had a realization that reframed everything: he wasn't building a team around himself to free up his own time — he was building a company with real stock value. That meant delegating not just tasks, but entire responsibilities, to people capable of running parts of the business themselves.

"We're not building people around Jerry to free up his time so he can take more vacations with his family. It was really running a company... the only way to have stock value is to not be the person that does all the surgeries."— Jerry David
The Transformation

Scaling Complexity and Planning Succession

As the firm grew from roughly six employees to 27, Jerry came to understand that complexity doesn't grow linearly — it multiplies. That understanding, paired with ClientWise's coaching through his founder-to-G2 ownership transition, helped him navigate both the strategic and emotional sides of handing the business to the next generation.

"Every time you double your number of employees, you 12x the complication of your situation... I need someone to help me prioritize what's the most important thing to tackle."— Jerry David

What He Values Most

In Their Words

It's not like going to the chiropractor and getting four adjustments and my back feels good. It's like, wow, I feel really good the last five years. Well, it's because you go once a week to the chiropractor every 52 weeks a year for five years.
On the ROI of continuous coaching
The experience would be is you can't analyze it by the meeting. You have to analyze it by the experience of time... I sometimes am amazed at the decisions I made... the confidence... I didn't even realize I had the knowledge to do it.
On confidence built over time
What really hit me was the emotional dynamics of dealing with this... a founder in this business and a G2 that purchases it are different wired people... that's some amazing coaching, helping through that.
