The Role of Financial Advisors in America's Freedom

By ClientWise | June 14, 2014

On June 14, 1777 the American flag was adopted as the symbol of our country’s freedom and independence. The 13 red and white stripes symbolize the 13 original colonies, and the 50 stars each represent a state. Even the colors, red for valor and bravery, white for peace and innocence, and blue for vigilance, perseverance, and justice, bear particular significance to the values our country was built upon. This symbol has come to represent so much, that those who hold it dear follow special protocol around wearing, folding, flying and saluting it.

No matter what your personal feeling is on this symbol of our country, my take is that special consideration should be given today, and on all holidays that commemorate our freedom and independence, to those who have sacrificed to maintain it.

There are thousands upon thousands of people who have lost their lives to uphold what The Star Spangled Banner represents. A smaller, but still substantial, group have suffered trips across oceans and over borders, often leaving loved ones and families behind, to join us in this experience of freedom, of what it means to be American. Their actions also show us this independence should not be taken for granted.

As financial advisors, you are part of this experience. It is your responsibility to partner with your clients and help them apply the knowledge you have about their investments and financial planning, so that they can make intelligent and empowered decisions with their freedom. ClientWise is here to help you in that partnership, to understand the deeper meaning behind your clients’ financial decisions, what drives their emotions, what informs their relationships with their finances. We also partner with you to be more strategic and targeted in achieving your own business goals. ClientWise helps you get clear, get focused, and get results to achieve a sustainable practice that will serve your clients for the long run.

So keep these values close to heart as we get further into the summer months. With kids staying home, families shifting schedules and planning vacations, and businesses slowing down or speeding up, it's easy to get caught up in the shuffle and take these holidays for granted, but we can’t. Because to forget these holidays means to forget what we are so blessed, and so proud, to have as our nation… an abundance of freedom.
