ClientWise Honors Our Veterans

By ClientWise | November 12, 2012

ClientWise would like to pause for a moment, and thank the millions of veterans who have served our country.

Thank you to all of the 22-million+ veterans who have ever worn the uniform of the United States of America. We salute you, as well as to the fallen heroes, and keep in our thoughts and prayers all those who are still in harm’s way…like the men and women still serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.

In November 1919, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day, which recognized the cessation of hostilities of World War I, known at the time as “The Great War”, or “The war to end all wars.” In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower issued the first “Veterans Day Proclamation”, to honor American veterans of all wars.

Today, there are more than 22 million veterans who have served the United States: 2 million from World War II, 2.4 million from the Korean War, 7.5 million from Vietnam, 5.7 million from the Gulf Wars and Afghanistan, and 5.7 peacetime veterans. (The sum is more than the parts because veterans who served in more than one wartime period are counted only once in the total.)

It also must be said that honoring our veterans is much more than the words and thoughts that we express on Veterans or Memorial Day. Honoring our veterans is about how we treat our veterans every single day of the year, and ensuring that our society provides the care that they need and the benefits they’ve earned when they return home.

Thank you again for your patriotism, your love of country, and your willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
